Meet the artist

Hi, I'm Vicki Rae.

My formal industry training began at the Face and Body Art International Convention (FABAIC) in Orlando, starting around 2006. I learned from international artists including Pashur, the Wolfe brothers and Mark Reid, building a foundation in professional products, technique and business practice. In 2008, at age 15, I won the Intermediate Full Face competition at FABAIC.

My journey into face and body painting began at age 10, working alongside my mother at her face painting company in Pennsylvania. From the beginning, I loved the possibility of transforming a person into a living canvas.

After graduating from Bucknell University in 2016 with a BA in Psychology and Fine Art, I moved to Los Angeles and opened my own face painting business. I painted weekly for guests at The Garland Hotel and worked at birthday parties and special events, including Fandango's Halloween party and a prom on the Santa Monica Pier.

In 2020, the pandemic brought that chapter to a close, and I spent several years in Tucson, Arizona. After returning to the San Fernando Valley in mid-2025, I felt inspired to return to face and body art with a new creative focus.

Today, I'm expanding from traditional face painting into live brand experiences, editorial photography and advertising concepts. I love the idea of creating painted models that capture attention in person and in imagery, turning a creative brief into something people remember.

I've experienced the magic of live body painting firsthand, including at a music festival when I was younger. I'm excited to explore that energy with brands, agencies, photographers and event producers through new collaborations.

Yes. I carry professional insurance through Beauty & Bodywork Insurance (BBI).

What paints and products do you use?

Cleanliness is a top priority. I prioritize clean tools, hygienic application practices, and appropriate product handling throughout each appointment, photoshoot, or event. Please let me know in advance about any skin sensitivities or allergies.

What kinds of projects can we collaborate on?

I welcome inquiries about corporate events, trade shows, brand activations, advertising concepts, photoshoots, painted models, private appointments and custom artistic commissions. Project fit and availability are confirmed individually.

Yes—share your creative brief, brand colors, visual references and intended use. We can discuss a custom concept designed for your audience and campaign goals.

Can you work with models or a production team?

Tell me about the models, photographer, production schedule and creative direction you have in mind. We can discuss how the body painting fits into the production.

How far in advance should I reach out?

As early as possible is best, especially for time-sensitive events and detailed concepts. Send your preferred date and project description to check availability.

How are commercial projects priced?

Quotes depend on the concept, number of models, painting time, event or shoot duration, location and intended commercial use. Send a project brief for a tailored proposal.

Can I share inspiration photos?

Absolutely. Inspiration images, color palettes and descriptions help communicate your vision.

Where are you based, and do you charge for travel?

I am based in the San Fernando Valley in Los Angeles. There is no additional travel fee for projects within the San Fernando Valley.
